Fritz -- yes --- you can buy a replacement "cable" (which sounds to be the case) through most vendors. I got mine through... ugh. Mental blank. rothchilds... rothmanns.. rothfields. It's gone out of my head. someone will fill in the blanks.
it was amusing at best to replace. However if you like, I'd be glad to do it for you for the cost of shipping. It woudn't be too hard to do a second time. Catch me offlist if you like
