[Miata] Is there a future for the Miata in C Stock?

I attended the Solo National Tour in Peru, IN this past weekend.  Chris Kirkham and I were the only Miatas in a field of 8 with all others being Pontiac Solstices.  I expected to get spanked bad being a novice, but Chris only managed a 4th place.  He won the Pro Solo C Stock in Washington, DC in a field dominated by Miatas last week.  Furthermore, the top three places at Peru all had better times than the fastest B stock (RX-8).  Bud Collins won C stock at Peru in a Solstice and beat the fastest RX-8 by over 2 seconds!  Bud drove a Miata last year.

Can the Miata survive against a car with 177 hp and huge 18" wheels?
