Those of us who have been racing in some form or another for a long time, do tend to lose track of the initial thrill of it all.
I've just started instructing with Apex Driving Academy at Motorsport Ranch, and on Saturday I had a very green student. His eyes practically lit up the first time we hit the ABS in the morning's braking exercise, and after that first session, which also involved slalom and emergency lane-change maneuvers, his exact words were "Wow, I had no idea a car could do that!" Needless to say, a session riding shotgun in my Miata during one of the Instructors' sessions had him grinning from ear to ear. I think he'll remember the day, and he said he'll be back for more. :)
It all brought back memories of the first time I experienced a handbrake turn from the passenger's seat. Once the world had finished it's split-second 180-degree rotation, I'm pretty sue my first exclamation was "That was cool! Do it again!" :D
