Leo, I can't speak to question one, but as for question two, with
that many miles I would consider a full set of rubber bushings. If
they've never been replaced they are probably shot. As for shocks,
you need to know how many miles are on the current ones. Please tell
me they are not the originals :-)
Please post the answers you get for question one so I know in case I
want to do the job on my car. I know I have torn boots on my lower
ball joints and have considered replacing them, was it difficult to
get them out?
