[Miata] - turning down down brake rotors at home

I have some free time at work and I was wondering if there was any reason
that I should have my brake rotors turned down on a low speed brake rotor
lathe at a brake shop instead of doing it myself.  If I bolt it to an old
front hub it will fit in the collet and as long as it is still within
tolerances when I am done there should be any problems... Right?
