[Miata] Miata performance over the years

Well, I've been driving for a lot less time than all you lot in that I
started late (1996), but so far (where's the smilie for crossed fingers) I
have not got a single ticket, although I've tried hard enough :D
I've only had one close call, and that was near Drumheller AB on the second
X-country trip. The roads were dead straight and boring, and I was just
trying to get from A to B as quickly as possible so we could visit the Royal
Tyrell Dinosaur Museum in enough time to really enjoy the exhibitions. I was
following an oil truck who was doing about 120kph in a 90kph zone. An RCMP
SUV shot by going in the opposite direction and I remember thinking Oh,
S---! Then he turned around ...
He pulled both of us off to the side and had a long talk with the oil truck
driver. The he had a friendly chat with us. Seems he was from Dorval QC and
we talked a bit about Quebec and Alberta and various other subjects, and he
let us go. He knew I was doing the same speed as the oil truck, but I think
his radar (or whatever) only picked up the tanker, and missed my small
silver Rollerskate, so he didn't actually have a legal reading on which to
base a ticket.
The only effect of the incident was to ruin any spirited driving for the
next two days, all the way into the Lake Okanagan BC area, because the SO
was thoroughly intimidated by the incident, even though there was no ticket.
