[Miata] "Dark Current" Discussion

You don't have an aftermarket bass tube in the trunk that has died?  I had
the same problem on mine recently.  Tore apart all kinds of hard stuff to
get to.  Turned out it was the bass tube 3' from the battery installed with
easy-disconnect couplers.  Three weeks of electrical suffering was solved in
15 seconds.

That's a lot of dark current and it's the alarm.  Only solutions are drive
the car more frequently, but not short trips, use a battery charger, get rid
of the alarm.  The Miata battery is smaller than most and prone to these
issues.  You will probably be "okay" with the new battery but the old one
was probably led to a premature death by the alarm.
