I am a powder coating fanatic.
I bought a hardly used Eastwood kit, powder and used oven at a very good
price.
But you still need an air compressor and sand blasting cabinet (which I
built).
This takes money and alot of room in the garage.
I am also limited to pieces that fit in a normal kitchen oven.
I did do a few sets of 13" wheels.
Basically anything that fits in the oven has or will be powder coated.
The process is really easy, and if you make a mistake (i.e., a grease finger
print) you just do it again.
I did this while doing a restoration of my Bugeye Sprite. I do have some
really nice looking brackets, etc., in the engine compartment, most of which you
can't see. Somehow my wife doesn't see the logic in why I need really shinny
rack and pinion brackets.
I am not so sure about doing brake calipers. You certainly don't want to put
then in the blast cabinet, since even one little glass beads would ruin the
pistons. Not sure what baking would do to any rubber seals either.
It is fun, but not so sure how useful it is on a modern non rusty Miata.
