Do you have excessive mileage on the rotors??

Do you have any gouging of the rotor surface??

Do you have any pedal vibration while braking??

If the answer to any of the above is yes then change the rotors.

If not scrub them with a scotchbrite pad and brake cleaner to make sure you remove all the old pad material and reuse them.

  It's been suggested that I should replace the rotors as well.  I thought it was ok to simply clean the rotors before swapping pads.  I imagine track drivers do this as they switch from street to track pads before an event.  Any thoughts? 

  Also, I keep reading/hearing about rotors for less than $20 each.  I'm looking at Autozone and Napa and the fronts are $30-60.  Only the rears can be found for <$20.  

  If I decide to get rotors, are cheap rotors ok?
