You may want to give Flyin Miata a call. For your car, they offer exhaust systems with 2.5 in tubing for forced induction cars and with 2.25 in tubing for naturally aspirated cars. I believe they have dyno data that will answer your questions.

Subject: [Miata] freer flowing exhaust

I will preface this by saying I have a 2001 LE, I wish we all would identify what we have since these questions have different answers depending on the year. Have any of you experiemented with using the Roadster mid pipe with the larger diameter cat. and say a Borla larger diameter rear section. It seems to me that it would be more beneficial than to just add a larger diameter rear section. Then the addition of a larger diameter cold air intake would agian up the horsepower through a freer flow. I know someone has to be playing with this but I haven't heard any talk about it or seen any dyno testing to see if it realy would be benificial and would using both the Roadster mid pipe and Borla rear section be loader that just the Borla by itself? I like the sound of the Borla Sport and God knows the Miata needs alittel sound.
