[Miata] Tire Recommendations?

You are absolutly right there, Chris. There can be a misundestanding.

205/40R17 Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 84W is the one of which I am speaking. The even higher cost, in this case, is because it is the
17". They would have been a bit cheaper through Tire Rack.

It originally came with Toyo Proxes R28 P205/40R17. They wore pretty quickly but i was forced to change out 2 of them because of a
major failure due to a nail working its way through at high speeds. Now I have the Goodyears on all four feet.

Last summer, after long deliberation, I bought the Goodyear Eagle F1s for my 2004 Mazdaspeed.<SNIP>

Just for clarity, Robban, which F1s? There are five different models all-season: GS, GS-2, Supercar and D3 (and from there
more sub-models for runflat or emt). I assume you mean the GS-D3 as it's been mentioned in this thread but wanted to make sure.
I had the Eagle F1 GS (without the "D3" or anything
else) stock on my 03 Cobra and when I went to sell the tires everyone thought I was selling the better D3, but was not and I had to
explain that each time ;)
