[Miata] Fwd: Reply To Ad - Power Antenna

Just a few observations about this...
Usually, the scammers hit well known sites like Craigslit, but Miata.net
may qualify. Normally they go for high dollar things, cars,
electronics, laptops, etc. IIRC, you aren't asking too much for the
antenna (75 bucks) which is a little low.
Also, they typically offer to pay you far more than you are asking, in
turn asking that you use the extra money to pay for the shipping to
(insert country here).
He also offerend paypal first, which is not normal scam tactics. They
almost always go western union or some never-heard-of payment system,
NOT paypal. That's the other thing, when they say Western Union, they
normally send you a fake WU money order, not a wire transfer. Wire
transfers, as far as I know, require that they actually hand the money
over to WU. Same with PayPal. They have to actually put the money on a
credit card, or pay via bank account up front.
Given everything you provided here, I would guess that this guy is
probably legit. HOWEVER, do what you think is right. Personally, I
would probably sell to him, BUT I would require a bank certified check
drawn on a US bank, and would require him to wait at least 10 business
days for the check to validate and clear before the antenna is shipped.
But then again, I use paypal and pull the money across two bank accounts
before I ever ship something I sell anyway.
Anyway, like I said, take advice as you get it, but in the end, its you
who is taking the risk. I think he sounds pretty legit, but if you do
sell to him, make him wait for any payment to clear completely before
you ship the antenna.
Cheers,
Jeff
