Wow Jeani

That's so un Miata club I can't believe it. I've really never dealt with Miata people like that. And the dealer!!!

What a shame.

I know a lot of Miata people in Florida and none of the ones I know act like that.

Wow. a dash plaque!. I want one--but then--

Must share my first experience with meeting with other "enthusiasts" from this part of Fla. today. Keep in mind I have a mechanically-immaculate 91 which needs lots of cosmetic "love." So I went to the gathering at the local Mazda dealership to which I had been invited. I gather it was a loose gathering from several clubs and areas. I was searching for sources for things like top application, good sources for paint, tips on changing out my radio surround, etc,

I mentioned to one owner that the only thing I hated about my car was that it came with power steering--"why would anyone need or want that on a Miata?" They looked at me like I had come in from Mars, and one young man said, "well it would be so hard to drive without it." I asked if either had ever driven rack-and -pinion and got totally blank looks.

Basically I was the entertainment. I was asked repeatedly how many times that "thing has been wrecked"--never. And "boy, I hope they gave you money to take it off their hands." I was insulted and embarrassed--and never got a single question answered about who instals tops around here, etc. I was , in turn, laughed at, ignored, and made fun of.

Thats my last experience with any Miata group in this state. I was mad, and humiliated, and the longer I drove home, the madder I got, The guy from the Mazda dealership even told me I lived in the "hood," and was lucky "they" had left me anything. I am so mad now I can hardly type. I am not exadurating--I went to get help and information,, like we used to share in C'ton. I got nothing.

I want to go home-back to C'ton-I hate this state, and I hate these rich, better-than anyone people who violate everything I ever learned in my entire life about fellow car enthusiasts. When I told one I was a little late cause I wanted to watch the show on the Nurburgring, the gentleman nodded and said, "Oh, F1 is today." Its obvious they (the ones in attendance) thought it was funny that anyone would BUY a 91 to restore, and not just send it off somewhere and write a check for all the parts and work. When I mentioned "Tech Days" it was as if I was speaking a different language--one woman said, "oh, you mean you got together to WORK on cars??"

One woman had on a Dragontail shirt--I aksed if she had seen much police presence, having heard that the Tenn cops where everywhere. It seeems she stayed in the cool motel and the pool--she "thinks" maybe her husband drove some that weekend.

End of long painful day--tomorrow I paint the windshield thingys--the ones THEY would pay $80 to buy and who knows how much to "have installed".

I am sure there are wonderful Miata people in Fla. I was just unlucky enough to meet the horrible group today.

Thanks for letting me vent--Larry, I miss yall!!

Good deal John , welcome to the club!! Contact Curtis Wiseman and give him your VIN and he can tell you the production number of the car. Also he can have a dash plaque made for you.
