This is an interesting California regionalism I never
noticed until the O J Simpson chase.

A Minnesotan would never consider saying "THE 494".  It's
just "494".

	We do it too, on the Right Coast. "The 90", "The 5".
It's odd because it's not consistent. Here "Route 9" is just
that, not "The 9". But it's not just interstates (90 is an
interstate) either, because the other big interstate here is
87 and it's just called "87" or "The Northway" but never
"The 87".
	You know now that you got me thinking about it, it
is strange...
