Just avoid the "Value Priced" OEM pads. For some reason,
Mazda sells cheaper versions of its OEM parts that are just
that--cheap.

I'd offer Axxis Ultimates as an option but 1) they
dust more than average and 2) they haven't lasted me very
long. I've had them since Winter 05, but I haven't put that
many miles on the Miata at all (about 13k in 2 years). But
they do bite and hold very well for anything I've done
(sometime spirited driving, about 10 autoxes in which I
rarely use brakes anyway). I'll probably stick with them. I
wanted to go with Hawk HP Plus next but everyone says they
are very loud and I don't want to put up with that (some
noise would be fine).
Interestingly Rosenthal no longer carries the
Ultimates... Are people no longer interested in this pad?
Really the only downside (for a shorter life pad) I can see
for them would be track time - I imagine they will fade
eventually, but I've never come close to it. Bang for the
buck seemed awesome as $50 an axle. What happened?
... Oh sorry for the hijack ;)
