[Miata] Cruise control

My cruise has got quite surgy of late.  Feels like it is getting kicks out
of getting on/off the gas.  Enough so, that the unspoken response is in the
realm of "what the @#% is going on?"  Where do I start to look to smooth it
back out?  What would cause it to surge? For the last two years it has been
rock solid smooth.  A great delight as compared to the wimpy GM cruise on my
OTM.
