[Miata] clutch master cylinder symptoms

I suspect that my clutch master cylinder needs rebuilt.  I was out driving on this excellent day with my wife and at the end of our drive, it seemed as though the clutch didn't want to disengage.  It was a gradual symptom that I first noticed when I ground the gears slightly and had to really push the clutch pedal firmly to the floor in order to shift.  Am I correct in my diagnosis?
