Let's see, except for the corrosion factor and the fact that they work
their way loose and you will constantly be trying to find the loose
wire &/or get stopped by your local constable for a discussion about
why your trailer lights aren't working. :)
I used Scotchlocks in the Telecom industry for years..... granted they aren't subject to vibration in that setting, but they are gel-filled - so corrision shouldn't be an issue as long as the scotchlock is the correct size for the wire. I don't think that I've ever had to replace a scotchlock that was used & crimped correctly.
