[Miata] Trailer lights - splicing wires

No one is talking about using them on the trailer in the weather. He's talking about using them to attach his lighting harness which is inside the trunk not outside in the weather.

They have failed on every trailer I have ever had. They have failed when I have used them and they have failed when other people have used them. The problem is the corrosion that develops. Unfortunately they don't fail all at once, but give you an intermittent failure and that's when the cops get you.

My 91 has them since 96, no problems.

The "failures" of Scotchlocks are greatly overrated.

Use the Scotchlocks, there is no reason they won't do the job as long and you make sure you squeeze them completely.

Let's see, except for the corrosion factor and the fact that they work their way loose and you will constantly be trying to find the loose wire &/or get stopped by your local constable for a discussion about why your trailer lights aren't working. :)
