Nope, wouldn't work.  The reason you drill it out is because the shaft is bigger than the stock one for the adjustor mechanism.

Use a air ratchet or a impact gun.  Speed is your friend.  Don't have one of those chuck an adaptor in your drill and use the drill with a socket on it to drive the nut.

  I just installed Tokico Illumina Struts. Per the instructions that came in the box, I drilled out the flat part of the hole in the upper strut mount. Now it is round rather than D shaped. When I try to torque the top strut bolt the rod just turns. Any ideas?

  Not sure why they don't just provide the shocks with a flat on end of the shaft. In retrospect, it would have been better to leave the upper shock nmounts stock, and file a flat on the treaded part of the shaft. Too late now.
