Keith,

If you want to know what a web page looked like in the past you need
"The Way Back Machine."

http://www.archive.org/index.php

If you put www.miata.net <http://www.miata.net/> into it you see what
it looked like all the way back to 1997. And if you look at the Jan 1,
2006 version you will see that it is horizontally constrained (at least
it is on my monitor).

By the way we are snowed in here today.

Bill

People are way too focused on how pretty a page is rather than how
useful it is. Text wraps nicely.

Actually, it's easier to make a consistent and effective interface
(these aren't the same thing as pretty) if you do have some constraints.
Allowing the page to flow all over the place to meet hugely varying
screen sizes is a real challenge, and sometimes it's best to set it up
so it makes maximum use of the target design size in order to make it
work well for everyone.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the front page always constrained
horizontally? I don't remember.
