>They are a standard size. You will see the part number on both items once they are out if you can't see them now. On my -1 they were 25590 and 25520, I believe they are the same for your trans. There is a big but though. Once you replace the bearings you stand at the task of adjusting bearing preload and ring to gear play by shimming behind the outside races and the side plates. See the manual for details. Replacing the shims require pulling and reinstalling the outer race for each attempt. If you build a makeshift tool this will become really annoying. I don't remember how I pulled the outer races but I think I borrowed a tool at work. The inner race was harder as the fingers of a standard puller don't reach the inner race unless you cut the roller cage off and even then maybe they don't. I ended up driving them off from inside the diff housing using a thin dowel that I put in the oil holes behind the bearing race.

> Second Question is that I found a difference between the right hand and left hand flange. The right hand flange had a stamped or spun metal hat covering the bearing outer ring (906) and the LH did not. Is this normal? The ring was press fit on the flange and is on the press fit side of the flange to the ZF case. I could not find this part in the manual.

>I think you are referring to part 929. This is the same as in my trans and I also found it on one side only. It would not be possible to fit two as only one side plate is machined for the hat. I think it's part of the oil control system inside the trans case.

> Third Question The Clutch withdrawal shaft (1001) did not have any return springs. The ZF manual shows two springs (1004 and 1008) is this a problem, or should I install these springs. My ZF is a -2.

>They should not be necessary as Bill wrote.
