MD,
"Slacker"...you talking to me ! Now you have done it !
First of all..I may be a slacker...but I'm a good slacker !
Second....I'm only a slacker due to me not wanting to "risk"
wading up a $40k car I can't afford in the first place.
If you GIVE me the funds to run.. and I don't have to worry if
I can afford to fix my car.. if damaged....I'll be happy to run you
down..
like the Dawg you are at ORR or anywhere....Hoo Ya :-)
Don't start that slacker crap..until we are on an even level.
Then If I don't run..I'll be happy to tattoo "slacker" on my big'ol
black butt !
Third...you had better start rueing..because the day is here !
If you have followed the eBay sales...along with this crazy
Barrett-Jackson sale..
you have seen lots of terrible cars go for laughable amounts of money.
The problem is collectors...or people who think they are collectors...
spending crazy sums of money...and that drives prices up.
This also includes people who have not seen, or know next to nothing
about Pantera's..
or whatever they are buying. (the un-informed).
They have the bucks...they see something they have to have..and damn the
price.
Next thing you know everything is $500k or more !
And on top of that...I'm sure when you are at a place like
Barrett-Jackson..
and you are in the bidding frenzy, and getting pushed by the auction
personnel...
and friends etc...you end up paying way more for something than you
would..
if you were making a traditional purchase at a dealer, or private party.
Now with that being said... as someone mentioned eailer..that may be
good
to push the DeTomaso mark away from the "kit-car" league...but I feel in
the end it hurts the enthusiast (like me and you)...as it has the
potential
to push our cars out of financial reach... as you are seeing with Muscle
Cars today !
It's all good for the sellers (until the market crashes..as with
real-estate)...
but it sucks for the buyers...who are not big-bucks collectors.
I have had Z-28's, Boss 302's, GTX's etc...and I'm amazed at what
people..
are willing to pay for them now. They were cool..but not that cool.
Do you really want that to happen to Pantera's ???
Crap...now I think I'm making your point...or just going off in a old
age rant !!!
Anyway..I'm off my box...And
MD...you know ...I Love ya Brother ! :-) :-)
Disclaimer: I may have made some people mad...Sorry
waiting for the crap to hit the fan....
Tom (loves Pantera's more than air) D.

Tom you slacker!
I know this is a departure from conventional wisdom but I will rue the
day when the starting price
for a used-all-most-never driven Panteras starts selling for as much as
a new Corvette.
The next thing you know they'll start selling for $100K+ then all of
you slackers will have a good
excuses not to race. ;-]
