[DeTomaso] top 10 performance upgrades

Stephen,

You're confusing caster and camber. Camber on the Pantera is adjusted
with shims in the rear and by moving the upper ball joint in the front.
Usually getting the proper camber setting is pretty easy. Caster is
where the stock Pantera comes up a little short. Ideally we would like
5deg or so of caster but most Panteras can't get there w/o making
suspension modifications. What Chuck is talking about is just getting as
much as your car is capable of, then you can decide from there if you
want to go further.

As far as the other things on Chuck's list they're all pretty straight
forward. I think the best solution might be to pick a few you want to
tackle first and we can schedule a Space City Pantera tech session at my
place to help you address them.

Happy New Year,

Gray

Dennis, assume we are talking negative caster (or do I have caster and
camber reversed)?? - thanks, stephen

That's a damn good list be it street modified or road race.
Would definately add 'added 5-6 degrees of caster' .

I'm assuming you mean mostly bolt on as opposed to engine guts and no
shiny
stuff just to look cool.

1) Sway bars
2) Shocks
3)Brakes
4)Cooling
5) Ignition
6)Tires/Wheels
7)Carb/Intake/Air Cleaner
8)Exhaust
9) Frame Stiffening Kits
10) Heads ( Ok, sorta guts )

As you can see as a former road racer, I feel that handling and stopping
rank above HP, don't be a High School redneck and build something that
goes
fast and can't turn or stop.

Happy New Year All!
