[DeTomaso] [NPC] Thermocouple

I have a couple of thermocouples and a limit switch (a one-shot thermal
fuse).

I was hoping that there would be a simple continuity type test that I could
run to check out the thermocouples, but that does not look like that is the
case.

As it turns out, the limit switch failed the continuity test, so I'll
trundle off to the local appliance shop with $10 for a new switch and hope
that does it. Kudos to local dryer repairman and real estate mogul, Peter
Kovacs, for the diagnosis tips. Ditto for Greg Landwehr.

Hi Mark,

I do not think they act as a heat switch at all. From what I recall they are

made of two different metals. When heated they produce a small amount of
power. This is what then opens the gas valve.

I just found this http://www.hvacwebtech.com/thermocouple.htm
