My Pantera was supplied with a Motorcraft Distributor having a Spirol pin fitted from new, me being the first and only owner of the car.
It fractured partially down its length not sufficient to break in pieces thankfully, however did not retain it's integrity sufficient to stop the timing shifting under firm and heavy throttle openings. Upon inspection, visually it looked ok, but by holding the shaft end in a soft jaw vice and twisting the pinion with a very firm grip the pin allowed movement. I removed it, drilled and reamed to 4mm dia, pressed in a sprung roll pin, being of the single coil type with a slot don it's length, and then pressed a 2mm pin inside that with it's slot 180 deg to the first. Since then it has been fine , the engine upgraded and the car frequently in track use, it has lasted some 9 years to date. Hope this helps.
