[DeTomaso] 10 qt Oil Pan question

We measured the dipstick this morning, it is 38" long, the last 3" or so is
a flat piece of metal like a normal dipstick, the first 35" from the handle
down is a giant springlike flexible rod, they connected with a brazen point.
A new filter and 8 quarts were added to the dry system, after running for
several minutes it brought up the oil level up to the point where the
coil-like rod meets the flat metal. We are now going to drain 1 qt from the
pan, let it settle and stamp the flat metal part at that point as -1 QT.
I should be driving it this PM or on Friday and I;ll report regarding sharp
corners and any loss of oil pressure.
