Don't know. I only have one spare set of rods- DOAE-A type- & they have the 
designator cast in relief (with a Ford oval logo) on the web just above the big 
end & 'A117' in relief on the other side. The Boss rods as I said are 
brinnel-tested for hardness so they would have a small ground area with a 
brinnel-dimple in the middle, in the same area. The Boss crank supposedly has the same 
hardness test area & a different p/n as well. Possibly, the Boss designator was 
in addition to the cast number- or maybe its simply on the box the Boss parts 
come in. Good question- been a LONG time since I saw a real Boss 351 apart! 
Except for the mechanical cam setup & the rod bolts, the rest of the Boss 
assembly really didn't seem to gain us much for its premium price so I never bought 
the rods or crank. Cheers- J DeRyke
