Great idea but did you read the part about the bolt being blocked by the selector arm/gearshift operating shaft?
In order to put Loctite on that bolt's threads, you have to remove the bolt, and the bolt can't come out far enough to expose any threads until the shaft is removed. I wasn't in the mood, or even inclined, to fuss with the two rubber plugs on the bottom of the box to access the allen set screws holding the selector arm to the shaft, so I could remove the shaft, this only after removing the linkage attached to the front of the shaft. And I don't know if that selector arm's set screws index into female threads on the shaft or instead clamp down on the shaft. If the later, then I was worried about returning the arm to the exact same position on the shaft as I originally found it.
The ball end hex key got things pretty tight. The set screw drill and tap idea is just that - an idea.
But for those who are putting a ZF back together, I would strongly agree with your suggestion of Loctite.
Very cheap, and easy, insurance.
