Well, it looks like The Winged Warrior's Boss 351C is history.
Following a great run from San Diego to Monterey for the Concourso, then on to Yosemite and on the way back to SD the engine lost power following an energetic trip down Hwy 5 through the San Joaquin Valley.
I thought it was another head gasket but it turns out I wouldn't be so lucky.
I visited the patient at the shop Thursday and saw more damage than I could have imagined. One SI stainless valve is embedded at a 45 degree angle inside what's left of a Ross forged piston and the other valve is embedded in the head at a similar angle. Other pistons are damaged and the cylinder is cracked completely through top to bottom. I don't think that can be reliably fixed so it looks like I need a totally new engine.
For reliable street driving and decent hp, what is the common preference, Cleveland or Windsor?
