[DeTomaso] Tires?

Jim, I didn't shave the tire as recommended by Tire Rack since I didn't
plan to do much track time
<http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Kumho&tireModel=ECSTA+V700>.
I haven't had any problem with "shedding" chunks of rubber. Keep in
mind though that I haven't put it on the track but two times since I put
the tires on the car.

Additionally, I put over 1,000 miles on the tires before I went to Vegas
a couple of years ago and ran it at the track the first time. The 1,000
miles was enough to heat cycle the tires and I assume take a little off
the tread.

I really can't say enough about the handling and ride of the tire. The
tires now have about 4,000 miles on them and are still in good shape.
I will keep them on the car for another couple of years if the tread
holds out. Since the R compound tire will harden over time, I will
replace them with another Kumho or equivalent R compound tire no longer
than two more years.

I don't know if you can get them in the same size that I currently have
on the car. Tire Rack only shows the 245/40R17 and 315/35R17 available
now versus the 235/40R17 and 335/35R17 I have on the car now. However,
the 245 and 315 still maintain the same relative front to back bias I
have on my 235 and 335 tires.
