"Pennsylvania...an easy day's drive from Boston".

This may be a bit of a shock, but Boston to just the PA border at its closest point is about 250 miles.   Add distance/time from there to where you are going in PA on to that.   Factor in commuter traffic both ways and I say you got yourself a two day trip of road rage and should take a plane.
