More usless trivia,

The C-4 was originally intended to debut in late 1982 as a 1983 model
but
there were production problems that took into calendar 1983 to resolve.
There were some 1983 Corvettes built, serial numbered, and tested by
Chevrolet and the motoring press at the "long lead" preview at Riverside
Raceway in December 1982. The 1983 Corvettes were not released for
public
sale. Since by law a new model can be assigned a model year
corresponding to
the calendar year after actual production (in other words, a vehicle
produced on or after 1-1-83 could legally be sold as a model year '84),
and
the car met 1984 emission and safety standards, Chevrolet decided to
skip
the 1983 model year designation and call the first C-4s 1984's.

Only 2 1983 Corvettes are known to have survived. One was cut in half
and
displayed above the entrance to the factory (since removed) and the
other
one is on display at the National Corvette Museum.
