[DeTomaso] Intake Manifolds

The only non imperical input I can offer, is that I currently run a Strip
Dominator on some CC iron heads that flow 305CFM @ 600lift on a 4inch bore.
626 Solid roller... It is wicked strong from 3600-7000 RPM. I ran this
intake with a much milder cam on my old engine and it was every bit as good
on the bottom as the POS dual plane Performer I took off that started
weezing at 5000 RPM.

That said, I bracket race another brand. My findings on intake swaps
between known tested reviewed good aftermarket intakes is there is just not
that much on the table. The only real data I would conclude from is the
same engine, same dyno, same day tests...........If that is what your
measuring a decision on.

My obeservation on the intakes being discussed (Funnel Web-Blue Thunder etc)
for the Cleveland is that most of them are clearly patterned after the Strip
Dominator, give or take some minor port size changes, and some newer voodoo
down in the runners. They appear hair splitting simular. The Strip
Dominator can be updated anyway you want with a port stuffer kit.....and
modyfying runners with epoxy or a grinder. I believe these others are
patterned after the Strip Dominator for a good reason. In its time it was
legendary and proven, there was not a better performing intake made for the
Cleveland.

To this non emperical end, what I am suggesting short of the fancy alumunum
heads that require a special intake to match them, buy a used Strip
Dominator, you will not only save alot of money, but will like the
performance it offers for a street car. If we were running a top fuel
dragster some of this hair splitting would be more meaningful....... If you
want every last inch of power or torque out of an intake..simply modify it
to your liking....

I think Ron Larsen is still licking his ass for selling me his Strip
Dominator..............It was one of the better bang for $150 I ever
spent.............And that is why I am reccomending it.
