Come on now....what lecture did you give young Larry Wu a while back?

I use a K&N and clean, but the high airflows of an engine at high rpm can
suck dirt through a dirty air filter. Running for extended time can add to
the possiblity of engine wear. When racing, I even use a non melting
grease and seal the sides of the air filter to keep dirt from being sucked
around it. Comes from days of off road racing and is still habit. Drag
racing you probably dont need to do this, if you even run an air filter at
all. Of course you may not need to anyway, but it should still be
inspected along with all bolts in any component that may fail during a
race. If you have raced regular you would understand.

I have seen some prople do some pretty stupid things, such as open a
radiator cap on a hot engine and spill coolant all over an EFI control
which is mounted inside the engine compartment instead of the inside of the
car. Required dissembly and cleaning of the computer to get the car
running again. Then this person did it AGAIN after another practice
session. He then put the car on the trailer. And this was a well known
Pantera racer to this Forum.
