[DeTomaso] What caused the Dawg's engine failure at SilverState???

As of this afternoon Russ has the engine along with the water pump so we'll see how badly I screwed us Russ' engine! ;-] Drenske has the alternator and will check it. I already sawsalled the AC bracket....makes it easier to get in and out of the Pantera.
MD, 2 years, 13 ORR's, 3 track events and lots of Derelict donut donuts later I'll gladly buy a new belt in return for a new engine.

Just after buying my Pantera, it developed a loud squeak -- the expensive
sounding metal on metal type squeak. It turned out just to be a bad idler
pulley bearing. I wasn't able to unbolt the damn pulley (who designed that
one?), so I just cut the belt since it was just driving an inoperable AC
compressor. (One of these days, I'll just take a Sawsall to it, so I don't
have to look at it any more.)
Hmmm, come to think of it, whenever I have lost a belt on the road in my
other cars (always in the middle of the desert for some cosmic reason) it
has been due to bad water pump, fan pulley, etc. never to a bad belt.

Hey MD,
Don't blame the belt. You ending with the wrong moral. I suspect you'll
find a seized alternator bearing, water pump, or something else that
caused the belt to burn off the pulley. Belts don't arbitrarily break.
