[DeTomaso] 180 heat shield for deck lid

I have a set of coated 180 headers and plan to use a
fiberglass deck lid. I am making a large heat shield
out of  1/8" aluminum. I attached stand offs to the
fiberglass (12 bolts attached to the fiberglass). I
have a 1" air gap between the lid and aluminum. The 12
mounting points also allows me stiffen the lid and
make adjustments to the fit of the lid to the body.   

How hot do 180 headers get? Will this aluminum offer
enough heat protection? I don't need a fire! I
remember all the Lotus Europas that had engine
compartment fires.
