[DeTomaso] Wheel Woes

Sean,

It sounds terribly pain full, but I would highly recommending sending them
back to Kodiak and get you money back including all shipping cost. If you
start machining them you will mess up the DOT certification. I would look
for a better solution that bolts right up without any hassle. Getting a new
set of wheels to fit should not be a big hassle.

I have taken my rear hubs apart so I know its not easy to get the rear studs
out. I have gotten some wheel measurements from some other people with
Kodiak wheels and mine are different. I have over 3/4 of an inch in the
wheel hub area where others only have around a 1/4 inch. Sending them back
to Kodiak to fix is an option but as it took 5months to finally get the
wheels after a commitment of one month I dont have a lot of confidence in
them. I would like to have my wheels for the summer driving season so
finding a local machine shop is my first choice.

I agree with Mike. Unless you got these wheels almost nothing or have
some other strong reason to stick with them, I'd say it's not worth
your while to mess with it.

My understanding is that to remove the rear discs you basically have to
disassemble the whole rear suspension and uprights, and I suspect it's
true for stud replacement too.

If you got these wheels with the understanding that they should fit a
Pantera, then they should.

  Sean,

I've never heard of Kodiak wheels but have you considered just boxing
them
up and sending them back to the vendor so they can send you the correct
wheels? If the vendor is one of our regular Pantera vendors I'm sure
they
don't want owners unhappy with their products. Messing around with
changing
out wheel studs is a major big hassle and it's not worth it.

Over the years I've had two new sets of wheels installed on my Pantera
and
both times they bolted right on with a perfect fit. And that exactly
what I
expected and deserved!

Mike
