[DeTomaso] Improving gas mileage with the Cleveland

With my stock 351C powered Longchamp I would like to here of any 
suggestions to improve my mileage?

I'm running smaller diameter rear tyres than stock which is of course 
not helping but which nevertheless suit the car 285/40/15's as against 
the factory 285/50/15's. Last weekend I determined my car is running 
3.07 rear end gearing so am thinking off fitting 2.88's which will lower 
the engine rev's somewhat.

A question, would I gain any benefit from changing my cast iron intake, 
factory carb and air filter for something like Weiand X-CELLerator 4V, 
Holley or Barry Grant 650 Vac Sec carb and one of those huge K & N open 
filters + a good rolling road dyno tune?

MSD 6350 worth the money? Am considering the far less costly Pertronix 
conversion route but the MSD looks so much nicer.
