[DeTomaso] advice needed

I might differ on the hypereutectic pistons. I ran them in a 398 CID
351w based blower motor in a street strip stang and had no problem with
them. I did not wan to run them at first. My engine builder said all
the bad thing you hear about them are from people that do not know what
rings to use with them. We had great luck with him filing the rings.
That motor is almost ten years old and has been freshened up but no
pistons have been replaced.

This guy sounds like one of those people who claims to be The World's
Foremost Authority (on whatever you choose to talk about) but is really
full of crap.

Take a deep breath, then start over again. It sounds like all of your
components are more than adequate for what you probably want (I would
shy away from
hypereutectic pistons for racing work, but they're fine for the street).
So
you've had some cam problems. There may be a valve train issue at work
there,
i.e. improper setup, valve spring coil binding? But it's probably a
small,
localized problem, not a comprehensive collection of screw-ups as this
guy is
leading you to believe.
