Paul,
Geoffrey Thomas had the same problem on his Pantera. We would get a spark
using the jumper indicating that the coil works and the 6AL unit was working
but the car would not get any spark at the plugs. Tested out all the wiring
and everything checked out. Replaced the magnetic pickup on the distributor
and the car ran fine. The original pickup was not sending the signal to the
box for multiple firing. Using the jumper on the green and purple simply
told the box to fire once. At least it indicated that the box and the coil
were OK.
I seem to recall that you should not ground the coil wire to ground to test
it - but I could be mistaken. I will call the MSD people before using that
proceedure.
best regards
Forest Majors
