[DeTomaso] Garage Floor Coating

I have recent experience with this.  I went through a bunch of research and a selection process.  I boiled it down to U-Coat-It if I would do it myself and FloorGuard for professional installation.  I actually did the U-Coat-It at my in-laws first.  It turned out pretty good.  However I did not think it was even close to what I wanted for my garage.  I had FloorGuard do my garage.  It is awesome.  Way better than anything you could do yourself.  Lifetime warrantee.  It was not cheap but I think well worth it.

I just went through this last month; after a bunch of research I
went with a light-grey and black VCT (vinyl composition tile)
checkerboard. I put three coats of acrylic wax on it after letting
the adhesive cure for a week.

It's only .39 / sq foot at Home Despot.

The only thing you really have to do to prepare is: be sure to
locate a notched trowel that actually matches the specification
that will be printed on your adhesive container. There are about
50 kinds of those trowels, and only one will have the pattern you
need. I hired an in-law to do the actual work, and he could have
done the 20x20 floor in one day if we had been perfectly organized.
As it is, it took us Saturday and Sunday.

(Oh, for pantera cooling solution number one thousand and one:
there are also a few shots of the custom Spal-equipped Fluidyne
puller-plenum I made with my HF sheet metal machine, some 2024-T3
alclad, and a bunch of rivets. It seems to work well.)
