Sounds reasonable. It will need all the clamping force it can get. I
read some horror stories with roller cams where the index pin had broken
off, sending the cam timing to the moon and basically destroying the top
end. My machinist said that it really isn't the pin that transfer the
force, but the clamping force. Perhaps the unlucky ones were using the
stock Ford bolt and washer with a cam similar to mine, and only getting
about half a turn of clamping force?
Perhaps I should pull the cam and have about 0.5" of the threads removed...
Crane is investigating the issue.
