Aldan shocks are color coded. They will have stripe(s) on one of the collars. I'm told that their website lists the color codes so you can determine your spring rates. If it's not on their website....just call them and tell them what you have.

Regarding not knowing what spring rates you have: When I spoke to the folks at Aldan last year I got the impression they keep records of what they sell to whom, so if you know the previous owner's name and number you could probably find out what you have. If he ordered them personally they'll have a listing for him, while if he got them from one of the retailers Aldan will know what that retailer specifies.

When I spoke to them we were both amazed that the spring rates ordered by Pantera owners and retailers varied all over the map, so you can't assume anything.

    Tom:

There will never be a shortage of good 16 inch tires. Check out the 88 different brand and styles of tires available from Tirerack in 225/50/16 alone. There where only a precious few cars ever fitted with 27 inch tall tires like the Pantera and the tire industry has changed dramatically over the past 30 years to lower profile tires with larger wheels for much improved ride and predictable handling. There were only 3 different manufactures that made tall enough high speed tires over the years for the Pantera vs the dozens of manufactures making 24-25 inch tires for the dozens of cars on the market today. So don't let false speculation influence your decision. Choose the size and style you like best that provides you with the ride and handling you want. Don't forget the wider the front tire the more steering effort is required and the more high speed wandering will be noticed.
