Are your shift linkage U-joints sloppy or just stiff? If they're just
stiff, cook them in oil and let them cool while still in the oil. Don't
heat the oil past the point where it starts giving off a lot of visible
vapor. And above all don't let your wife catch you cooking motor oil on the
stove; there will be a lot of garage smell type odor. Worked for me.
