[DeTomaso] WHAT COMES FIRST, RUST CONVERTER OR BONDO

Thanks for all the help with the rear suspension bolt and I will definitely
retry the C clamp with the socket. I tried it without it and it kept slipping
off as I expected it to, but it didn't even occur to me to use the oversize
socket to maintain the center line. Now for a body shop question. When I
removed the rubber coating from the engine bay and rear supports, I found a lot of
surface rust under the coating. Most of these areas I was able to sand down
to good bare metal, however a lot of areas due to the geometry of the location
allowed scant amounts of pitting to remain and I am trying to decide if I
should use rust converter such a POR first and then apply the bondo? I know this
violates all body shop rules which say bondo sticks to metal, but I fear not
treating these areas will lead to disaster in several years. Any insight is
appreciated.
