[DeTomaso] Campy wheel rub ?

I had the same problem to the right front when I had an 8" wheel mounted
there. It did not rub when spun but apparently deflected slightly when
cornering. I took an angle grinder to it several times but never did
completely solve the problem. Left side had plenty of clearance.

Thanks for the reply. It is good to know I am not alone. Hand built cars,
I guess.
The suspension appears to be fine, and was easily aligned. It didn't appear
to be twisted or bent.
I moved the wheel to the right side, and it cleared, but the right wheel
began to rub on the driver's side.
As I have uni-directional tires, I can't run this way, and would not want to
regardless.
A reply from Jack DeRyke was that he had not heard of this before. Still
waiting to hear from Mike Drew.
I filed/ground some small clearance, but not enough to correct the issue.
It would be interesting to try
someone else's 8" front wheel for another data point.
I also checked to make sure the upper ball joint bolt was fully tight, but
is was completely into the pocket.
>>>Something may be making the assembly wider (taller), so if anyone wants
to take a measurement off their car I would REALLY appreciate it. Wheels or
tires don't matter. I'd guess measure from the top of the A-arm (as far
outside as possible) to the bottom of the lower A-arm, the spread that must
fit within the wheel.
Now I am thinking of options. I may grind more, try to buy another pair of
8" campys, etc...
Suggestions?
(This may keep me from making Monterey - ouch!)
