I doubt that it matters, but why take a chance?  It isn't that hard to keep
'em straight is it?

I used to remove u-joints by removing the clip first (needle nose), and then
pressing them apart with c-clamps and sockets.  A small socket goes against
the bearing cup.  A larger socket goes on the other side.  You could use a
vice or press instead of a c-clamp.  At any rate, it's a pretty easy job.

If the u-joints are old, you probably want to consider replacing them.

I'm goint to paint my 1/2 shafts and want to remove the u-joints. Do they
have to be re-assembled to the matching parts for balancing?
