For a 17" front wheel, the tire options are basically 225/45-17 (very common
size), 235/45-17 (fairly common size), 235/40-17 (not a common size), and
245/40-17 (a very common size). The 245s may require rolling fender lips
and occasionally bashing the cowl drain tubes a little flatter for
clearance. 245/45-17 tires are also available, but avoid them as they are
much too tall for a Pantera, both visually and functionally.

The 335/35-17 and 315/35-17 fit the rear of stock fender Panteras, but
clearance on the rear of a Pantera with super wide tires is fairly tight.
There are not very many tire choices available in either of those sizes,
especially compared to 285/40-17. Also all 17" Campy clones do not
necessarily fit the rear exactly the same (that could be either car
variations or wheel variations). I've seen some 11" wide Campy clones that
were a perfect fit and others that the rear had to be jacked up to keep the
tire out of the fender when the suspension was compressed. You can actually
gain outside rear fender clearance by going to an 18" wheel, as the wheel is
large enough diameter to allow more backspace by sliding the rim inboard
over the pivot shaft on the bottom of the rear upright (ala John Taphorn's
car).

There are a cluster of Pantera owners that run 285/40-17 tires on 11" rear
wheels (Mad Dawg was one of them until recently). The 285 tires fit the 11"
wide wheels nicely (I think), though they are at the recommended limit for
wheel width. They probably offer better handling overall as well with less
pronounced oversteer. The 285 tires tend to appear wider than they actually
are when mounted on 11" wide wheels. The downside to 285s is that there is
basically no rubber buffer from the tire to protect against curb rash - so
don't rub any curbs.

on 11.5" wide rears)

Will 285-40 through 335-35 fit on 17x11 Campy clones on the rear of a stock
bodied 73 Pantera.

On 17x8 fronts...what are my tire options...just street driving, no
tracking.
Thanks
