NO out-of-the-box Holley will be perfect and double-pumpers meant for 
competition are the worst at being mis-tuned. Holley sets them up a bit rich for 
warranty purposes,  for sea level operation. Then its expected that a serious 
owner will dial in the carb on his engine to his liking. I've had no trouble with 
tuner Holleys- I currently run a Holley 700 double-pumper tuned by a Pantera 
vendor that both runs clean and gives 19mpg at 80-120mph.  I have had MUCH 
trouble with out-of-the-box carbs of all types and I expect the Edelbrock to be no 
different although I have zero experience with it in its present incarnation 
(it used to be a Carter 4bbl used on Chryslers). Suggest you call one of the
